We can see the light at the end of the Alice in Wonderland tunnel. I have worked on more shots in this movie than any other to date. I have had a hand in over 55 shots with tech fixes, green screen keys, adding or removing elements and other thing.
I was lucky to be the lighter compositor for just shy of 30 aforementioned shots which was nice because I really like being able to take a shot though all the different stages and end with the final image seen on screen.
More updates soon, planning my summer and it could be interesting.

Toyota Borrowing my Photos?
A couple days ago I was alerted that a photo form my flickr stream was being used on a website advertising the Toyota 4 Runner without my permission. A number of other photographers also had their images used as well without permission.
Toyota has removed the images from the site and issued an apology but has yet to contact any of the photographers and you can read about on the sites below:

A big thanks to Michael Calanan for letting me know.
Here is my original image Toyota used:

edit:
The advertising agency has been in contact and is looking for ways to resolve the issue.

Sony Pictures Imageworks & The Foundry
Interesting read today on fxguide about how Sony and The Foundry are merging technologies. I was glad they released some screen shots of the lighting/compositing software we use.

Antichrist
This is probably the most disturbing movie I have ever seen. At least in recent history.
The film is low budget at times and has an ending that reminds me of a emo NY Film students wet dream but the start of the film is beautiful and the middle has some really messed up shots that you will take to the grave.
Its a limited release, probably not going to play long but if you get the chance its worth a couple bucks.

Surfing Is Fun
Something I have been attempting to do over the last two years is learn to surf. So far the result has been somewhere between FAIL and EPIC FAIL however I remain optimistic, even somewhat enthusiastic about what the future holds.
Last weekend I had a particularly nice wipe out that resulted in a broken fin on my board. The picture below I took right after breaking my fin and it illustrates almost exactly what I did. Like the rider on the right, I was riding the crest of the wave except in a kneeling position. Then like the rider on the left I pushed the board out of the way and free fell in front of the wave screaming in a very high voice.
Surfing is the highlight of my day.

WOOOOOOOOT
I just saw that "I Watch Stuff" just posted a single screen shot form Alice in Wonderland that I worked on. Another lighter did most of the lighting and rendering then I did a lot of the comp work including the green screen for Alice.
